In 2014, Americans spent over $15 billion on videogames, quite a change from just $5.5 billion back in 2000. In fact, gaming has grown to become one of our the world’s dominant cultural mediums, bigger than both Hollywood and the music industry.
When it comes to genre, most Americans favor fast-paced action and shooting games, according to the Entertainment Software Association. In 2014, action titles accounted for 28 percent of all video games sales across the country, while shooters took a 22 percent slice of the market.
